Metropolitan

This is the result of a great experiment to try and evaluate all of the specialty drinks at Koberl at Blue in San Luis Obispo, California. While all of these reviews are based on the experiences of myself and my friend who requires anonymity for her job (how’s that for intrigue?), we definitely consult with a rotating assortment of other special guests and friends to come up with our recommendations. Rating options include: Like It, Love It, and No Thank You.

Metropolitan

Pearl Pomegranate Vodka, Pama & Lime ($12)

A first glance at the Metropolitan will immediately suck you in. It’s a gorgeous martini of startling pink, and quite frankly, this photo doesn’t do it justice. But at least you get the idea. The Metropolitan taste is best described as tart, and not too sweet. By tart I mean that there is definitely a pucker factor, and there is a bit of lime pulp goin’ on. This is one of the only drinks we both loved (so far); it is just delightful all the way through. We would definitely order it again, (and we have).

Blue Fin Martini

Hpnotiq Liqueur, Vodka & White Cranberry Juice ($10)

Admittedly, the Blue Fin Martini was one of my favorite martinis prior to starting this great experiment. It is fairly sweet, which can be a turn off for some folks. It certainly was for my drinking partner. The white cranberry was a remarkable mixer with the Hypnotiq and vodka, taking the edge off, yet complementing the flavors very well. The best part of the whole experience though, was the gummy shark. He lurks below the surface as a special treat. He also slightly melts around the edges, adding some of his own flavor to the drink. If you like gummy candy, you absolutely must try this drink.

Sacred Frequencies

The connections we make with people and places are sacred. I cherish every one, and moreover, I learn from those I can. Including and never forgetting those I reconnected with tonight. There is a card on my front door that reads:

"There is no one I cannot teach something to, and no one I cannot learn something from." - Source Unknown

and I truly believe that. There is nothing in the realm of the impossible as long as we are willing to believe and ask questions. I am truly inspired by the people I have had the pleasure to work with, and can only hope that I reciprocate that inspiration to them. I am in a constant feedback loop of learning and teaching, receiving inputs from a wide array of sources, and sending my outputs to those with an ear tuned to my frequencies. Be well, and pass the message on to those around you. Life is incredible; possibilities are endless; and relationships are everything.

Honey Grapefruit Martini

Honey Grapefruit Martini

Vanilla Vodka, Grapefruit Juice, Honey & Sparkling Lemon ($12)

The honey grapefruit is a beautiful martini. Upon arrival, we were taken by surprise to find the glass lightly drizzled in honey. Even more impressive once I attempted to recreate the honey drizzle at home only to watch forlornly as it all sank to the bottom of the glass. Setting aside the likely simple physics that was involved, first impressions from our tasting team were that the honey web was thrilling, giving the martini a slight sweetness. Add to that the light citrus flavor and the product is a refreshing summertime drink.

Smash Mode - Rapture Protocol

Hello all,

In the likely event that myself and several key guild members are raptured tomorrow, I wanted to make sure there were some protocols in place so that the guild can continue to thrive.

1. TRANSFER OF LEADERSHIP - Guild management should be transferred to the most senior active guild officer that is not assumed into heaven.

2. RECRUITMENT - We have 2 current short-term goals that must be managed. One is that we reach guild level 25. The other is that we continue to progress in our raids. We will need to maintain heavy recruitment during this time of strife, filling our missing raid slots with those left behind. Remember, just because they are left behind, that does not mean they are bads or trolls. Other guilds will be left in complete turmoil by the rapture, so it is our best time to swell our ranks with quality raiders.

3. ETHICAL STANDARDS & CONDUCT - Smash Mode has always stood for realm-wide helpfulness and positivity. While some Kilroggians may resort to disregarding civility towards one another, it is important that Smash Mode remain an example to other guilds on the server that just because there is a hell-on-Earth, that does not mean we can treat each other with disrespect.

4. GUILD MEET UP - The world is scheduled to expire on October 21, 2011, the first day of BlizzCon. The guild meet up should still occur during that weekend, with the hope that all non-raptured guildies who survived the zombie apocalypse can finally hang out together. The Disneyland post-BlizzCon fun will be moved from that Sunday to Thursday, since Disneyland will no longer exist that weekend. We should also plan to appropriately enjoy the game play of Diablo 3, which will hopefully have some influences from the real world around us built in.

This protocol will be cross-posted to the Blizzard forums this afternoon so that the GMs at Blizzard will know our wishes for the guild in the unlikely event that all senior officers are raptured.

Thank you,

TheMock
